Gibbs #3B Ascender

    Gibbs #3B Ascender

    Gibbs Ascender Model #3B

    • 7/16" to 1/2" (11mm to 13mm) Rope
    • Spring Loaded or Free Running Forged Cam
    • 3/16" Aluminum Shell
    • Breaking Strength 5400 lbs

The #3B Ascender is intended for flip lines and load hauling, where extra strength is required. Not for self belay by solo climbers.

Gibbs Ascenders are designed not to slip. They hold well on iced and muddy ropes. Their simple, durable construction makes them almost fool proof. They are easy to assemble on the rope yet will not come off unexpectedly. They can be rigged in all the standard methods for mechanical prussiks.

Assembly: Remove lock nut and pull bolt out until cam swings free. Place ascender on rope and align holes in cam and shell. Re-thread nylok nut and tighten. Do not compress shell.

Convert to Free Running Mode: Remove the small screw in the spring cover. The spring will rotate freely.

Reconvert to Spring Loading: Hold cam down and re-insert screw in spring cover.
